And what finer honour to a modern man there is than an Abyssinian´s never-ending affection and its graceful beauty! Because our cats are first and foremost family members, my breeding programme is rather small-scale, but nevertheless carefully planned. Trotzdem dauerte es noch zwei Jahre bis das erste wildfarbene Somalimädchen, nach intensiver Suche, bei uns einzog. Cattery: Somalis of Oriental Light - Im Sommer 2004 kam Amenophis, genannt Nophi zu uns. Aufgrund seiner Lebhaftigkeit und seines liebenswerten Charakters stand für uns sehr schnell fest, dass er nicht lange alleine bleiben sollte. Das es wieder eine Somali sein sollte, war uns dreien sofort klar. Bei der Farbe gab es allerdings unterschiedliche Meinungen. Die Entscheidung fiel dann auf Black-Silver, als wir uns Kitten in dieser Farbe angesehen hatten.

De naam van de cattery heeft helemaal geen verwijzing naar de locatie, maar des te meer naar één van de bewoners van de cattery: Rumbleteaser. Rumbleteaser is mijn allereerste Somali. Zijn naam heeft hij niet per ongeluk gekregen: "Teaser" omdat hij zijn broertjes en zusje zo veel plaagde en "Rumble" omdat hij als kitten altijd zo veel spinde. Als stamvader heeft hij de eer om zijn naam aan de cattery te geven want Sunza betekent Teaser en Fumi betekent Rumble. In het Swahili dat wel!

Na lang zoeken en nadenken kwamen we op "Dakini". Dakini's spelen een belangrijke rol in het Boeddhisme en vrij vertaald betekent "Dakini" zoiets als "danseres in de lucht". Dakini's zijn manifestaties van goddelijke energie, die een vrouwelijke vorm hebben aangenomen, en verschijnen om mensen te helpen op hun weg naar spirituele groei. Cattery: AV SINA BASS - Vi er et ganske lite oppdrett med et, kanskje to kull i året. Noen ganger flere for vi har noen katter på for. Vi har gemytt og sunnhet som det viktigste i vårt oppdrett så får det andre komme etter. Selvfølgelig er det andre ting som spiller inn også, men vi avler ikke på en katt som ikke har godt nok gemytt.Vi har vært innom alle farger utenom sølv variantene. Vi har hatt kull med viltfarget, sorrel, blå og fawn.Vi begynte med vilt og sorrel men har havnet inn på blått og fawn og kommer nok til å jobbe mest med disse to fargene. Med litt innblandning av vilt og sorrel. Alle fargene er jo så vakre så det er vanskelig å bestemme seg helt at vi kun skal jobbe med den eller den fargen. Så vi tar det litt som det kommer..

Vi fant ingen sorrel hunkatt unge som var til salgs, men en vi pratet med fortalte at hun visste om to voksne (mor og datter) som skulle omplasseres. Vi hadde jobbet litt med omplassering av katter tidligere og tenkte at dette ville vi prøve. Ved juletider kom (N) Trollongans Amber og Agatha Christie av Sina Bass (N) til oss. We were now hooked on Somalis and later in 1997 we acquired a male kitten, Leoncini Lysander, to be our very first stud cat - now a United Kingdom Grand Champion.
